A Mission With A Purpose
North Dakota and a few other states still allow homes to be built using building practices proven to create an unhealthy living environment; unfortunately, homebuyers rightfully assume that all homes are safe.
I am building this website after getting a call from a homeowner that is in desperate need of help. For the past seven months his wife has been sick. Her test results are normal, so doctors can’t determine what is wrong. Making things worse, his children have developed allergies and are also often sick.
This family lives in a home they had custom built and even though it was built to code, their home has two of the three major construction defects discussed on this site.
It is my hope that by helping home owners understand common sense building science and the dangerous building practices used by many builders, and by developing and providing solutions, including custom IAQ systems that make homes safe to live in and change the way homes are built.

It Truly Is "Buyer Beware"
Professionals Are Silent
After building scientists proved that there were serious health issues and other problems created by specific home building practices, including many presently used, National Building Codes were enacted to correct those practices and protect homebuyers from harm.
Unfortunately, Building Code Officials in some states, including North Dakota, deleted or amended critical code requirements.
It seems that history has a habit of repeating itself; what we once were told was healthy and safe, is not.
From the 1930’s through the 50’s, advertising’s most deceitful phrases were paired with the world’s deadliest consumer product; cigarettes.
“More Doctors Smoke Camels Than Any Other Cigarette”
It Is Time For Change
It was in the early 1950’s that controversial studies asserted that smoking led to fatal illnesses, but it wasn’t until 1964 that the U.S. Surgeon General issued a definitive report that linked smoking cigarettes with lung cancer. Now studies prove that poor indoor air quality in your home can cause chronic and fatal illnesses, with babies and children being the most vulnerable.
What is happening regarding indoor air quality in homes is like what happened with smoking in the 1950’s and early 60’s. We can’t ignore the science and continue to build homes that we know are harmful, while building officials in many states have accepted building science and are enforcing building codes that create safe and healthy homes.
It doesn’t make sense, unlike cigarettes that can’t be made safe, homes easily can be. In 2020, KB Homes built over 10,000 and Meritage Homes over 7000 homes that conform to building standards developed to provide safe and healthy homes.
